New York Hall of Science - 1st Floor Layouts

The First Layout

The Second Layout
"The Railroad Empire"

The Third Layout
"The Super Layout"

This is the beginning of a new section on the layouts that occupied the first floor of the New York Hall of Science at various times between its opening in 1941 and its closing in 1958.  As best as I can determine, there were three layouts as noted in the side menu.  The information on them is derived primarily from the Train Collector's Quarterly articles by Bruce Manson cited in the footnotes, as well as a discussion with Ray Mohrlang, the owner of a very large collection of photos of many Gilbert display layouts.   The articles are an excellent source of information on all three layouts.  Much of what I have learned about the second layout is based on a theory proposed by Bruce Manson in those articles.  We certainly need more information on these layouts, so if you can help by providing any information or photographs of these layouts, please let me know at flyerdisplays@att.net
