This photo, the first of five which appeared in small size in the 1951 American Flyer catalog, was taken at the right end of the 2nd floor layout, between the lake (to the left) and the industrial area (to the right).  It shows one of the highlights of the layout, namely the three level crossing.  This is a feature that several modelers have incorporated into their layouts.   For one example, see Paul Nelson's layout featured in "Breaking Down Walls", in the February 1996 issue of Classic Toy Trains, Pages 66-71.   The 3 level crossing is shown on pages 68 & 69.
