N.Y. World's Fair - 1939  N.Y. World's Fair Dioramas

Section of World's Fair dioramaThe New York World's Fair of 1939 was a major event and railroads were well represented.  In the section on the F.A.O. Schwarz Layout, we noted the contribution of that layout's designer, Billi Bowen, to the displays at that fair.  Billi's work for the fair appears to be his major employment at that time because he is listed on the 1940 census as a builder of railroad exhibits.  Whether he played a part in these American Flyer Exhibits cannot be established, but I believe it is a possibility.   If anyone has any information to add, please use the contact us link on the home page.

In any case, these are remarkable exhibits which show case Gilbert's recently introduced line of 3/16 inch scale O gauge trains, as well as his HO line.   They were obtained from the Ray Mohrlang Collection and were scanned at high resolution.  Enlargements of the photos show remarkable details.
